Thursday
Thursday was… changeable in the morning as these shots from my desk will show you. When things brightened up as they always do around here, we went to Yialos where there was a cruise ship in. Along with the day boats, it made for quite a busy harbour.
Being useful and finding it useless
I thought I would be helpful today but, after 15 minutes, I gave up. I have this idea for Microsoft Word, an enhancement that would make my life, and the life of others, much easier. When I type a word incorrectly (as I do all the time) and consistently incorrectly, such as ‘staygin’ instead of ‘staying’, for example, I will go to the autocorrect part of Word and add in ‘staygin’ making it automatically correct to ‘staying.’ Needless to say I have hundreds of these autocorrects as I don’t actually type, I just hit the keys in random order and occasionally a properly typed word will come out. The thing is, I spend a lot of time adding in autocorrect words and it would be so much easier if you could right click on the misspelled word – to bring up the spell checker – and then have an option to go straight to autocorrect from there. One right click, click to autocorrect with your misspelled word already entered, enter the real word and click ok. Simple. Much simpler than going to File, options, blah di blah and then filling out words where, by the way, you have to then close the autocorrect box, move down the page to your next set of words you want to add in, re-open the autocorrect box and start again. (There is a short cut I use, which helps a little.)
Tuesday afternoon
Anyway, I tried to find a place where you can send in a simple suggestion to Microsoft… and ended up with seven tabs open in my browser, links to forums that didn’t help, Microsoft Connect where the word ‘Word’ wasn’t even recognised, Microsoft Community that led me around in circles, Microsoft Support that led me to pages that I’d already had no luck at, and ‘contact us’ pages that did the same thing. I gave up in the end, they can do without my feedback as it won’t be very pleasant.
Looking down to the back of Yialos
Anyway, anyway, I thought I’d just throw that one out there in case anyone does know of a simple page or email address where you can send in your handy tips.

Meanwhile, on Symi, we’re back on dry land, with today’s photos I mean, and we’re waiting for the rain that may or may not come later today or tomorrow (I am writing this on Wednesday). The day started cloudy and windy, the wind died down, the boats came in and the cloud persisted. It’s also warm and a bit humid, but the sun is due back later. I think we are having a stay at home day today, but whatever you are doing, have fun!
All at sea
A few more at sea photos for you while I take a break from writing words.

A few photos
A few more photos from the boat trip last weekend. Off out again this morning (more cat food, collect a duvet, find the rent money… usual things) and so only a quick post with a few pics to look at over your morning coffee or tea.

Things to do on Symi: Relax
Everyone’s pretty relaxed around here at the moment. Including the Alarm Cat, as you will see in a moment. It’s been a long weekend of fun and feasting with an around the island boat trip on Friday – a fantastic time as usual – a walk to Pedi on Saturday for lunch, watching the clouds roll past and carry on rolling, a birthday dinner with friends on Saturday at Georgio’s, including live music and much frivolity, and a quiet day on Sunday, with no sign of clouds. This week, so far, looks like it’s going to be quieter with hardly anything in the diary at all.
Before I present you with some photos for today I just wanted to thank everyone who has so far put up a review of ‘Remotely’. Seven five-star reviews so far, and some wonderful comments. It looks like there’s quite a lot of interest in this body-swap, coming of age, gay/straight comedy; a newspaper local to where the story is set, are running a piece on it this month and, so far, sales have been good, for me. It’s out there in Kindle and in paperback and you can find the links from this page: ‘Remotely’ on Amazon. I’m just putting this thought out there but it would make a great gift for someone for Christmas.
And now a few photos from Friday.
