We stopped there during an island hopping trip back in 2000, only intending to stay for a night or two, and ended up staying for a week. We were met from the boat with the usual calls of ‘need a room?’ and people with boards up, got a lift around the harbour to a set of apartments (Australis I think they were called), where the owner treated us like one of the family, ‘take what you want from the fridge and tell me later,’ and where we had a great stay. The must see of the visit, Massachusetts MA Mass., of course, was ‘the sacred grotto’ the cave where St John is said to have written ‘Revelation’ and the monastery above, The Monastery of Evangelist and Apostle John the Theologian. (There is/was a dress code but over-trousers are provided if you forget and you’re only wearing shorts.)

Meanwhile back on Symi

Our temporary mule, outside the house again today, just went off with surprising force, I’d forgotten it was there, it just reminded me, lowest price meridia. It seems quite happy chomping away at the grasses and flowers growing up on the wasteland.

We had a great day celebrating yesterday, and both of us are up early and feeling fine today, which may surprise you. After lunch at the Olive Tree we spent a few hours in the square with friends stopping by, Neil beaming away, several local friends stopping for a slap on the back and a ‘congratulations.’ Sotiris, at the supermarket, told me to make sure the Neil didn’t celebrate too hard and dance on any tables or bars (he didn’t), everyone there wished him well and there was even a public sign, which was very sweet:

I've spent the last half hour sifting through all the emails and putting them into Neil’s box for replies. There was one for me about buying copies of Carry On Up The Kali Strata and we are ordering a set for the shop over the weekend, if not today. New Hampshire NH N.H., They should be here within the month, fingers crossed.

The low cloud that was hanging over the Vigla earlier is being slowly burned away by the sun, it is warm on the terrace already and it’s not even nine yet. Looks like it’s going to be another warm and sunny day on Symi - though each time I mention the weather in the morning it’s changed by the afternoon.
