Symi art workshopWell, messages about Symi photos are the thing today at least. I was sent some pics of an art workshop and asked to show them on the blog, so here are a couple, and thank you to Sevasti and Ian for sending them. (There are a few more on http://www.symi-photos.com/ if you want to see them).  This was a workshop given by local artist Haycox and organised by the Symi Gallery in association with the Symi Women’s Institute.

The next piece of photo news that came in was via email and was from Lynne. She has said she has some photos from a neighbour, another lover of this wonderful island, and these were taken some 35 years ago. Hopefully we will be getting copies of some to show here too, and if and when we do I’ll put then up. Can’t wait to see them. Which reminds me to mention the documentary about Symi that’s now available from Juniper films. (It was made in 1976 which is almost 35 years ago.) “We’ve released a new DVD that combines our 1976 film, Ten Times Empty with extra images and sounds of Symi, an idyllic small Aegean island that was facing change in the mid 1970s.”  CLICK HERE to go to their site and see all the details. It really is a fascinating film and a ‘must see’ for all lovers of Symi island.

And the last photo thought for today hasn’t happened yet and it may not, but here’s hoping that when he’s in town this morning Neil can get a photo of the seal who has been camping out on a boat in Yialos these last couple of days. He/she may have gone by now, but we will see. And I mean a seal not a Seal, and when I say camping out I mean… oh you know what I mean.Symi art workshop
