So reads the Diagoras Facebook page
. But, if you don’t subscribe to Facebook then we’re here to let you know a little more about this day trip and boat. The Diagoras is a wooden sailing ship that takes visitors (and locals) out on day-long sea-bound adventures. Sometimes it goes all around the island, sometimes to St Emilianos bay, sometimes to Nimos or Sesklia and other destinations, but always there are stops for swimming and diving.

You buy your ticket on the quayside either in the morning or the evening before, which is recommended in high season as the boats are very popular. At the moment (2012) tickets for the day cost around €30.00 per person and in return you will get:
A full day on the boat, from 10.30 to 17.30 or later depending on the trip.
A fully trained and experienced captain and crew
Comfortable seating and sunbathing areas
Stops at the Symi cave, at beaches, off-shore for diving, according to the daily schedule
A full lunch cooked aboard the boat and a barbeque on shore; the food is fabulous.
Wine, retsina and ouzo or, for the die-hards, water. (Beers and soft drinks are available at extra cost.)
Pleasant company, and a day you won’t forget

We can recommend this trip as we’ve taken it several times and have never been disappointed. You simply board, let yourself be looked after and watch the world sail past you as you sunbathe, chat, chill and swim.
Some of the destinations the Diagoras sails to include:
St. Emilianos bay.
A small island in the middle of the sea that connects with Symi through a small path. On the island there is a traditional Greek monastery that opens its doors to everybody, all year long.
Just opposite St. Emilianos bay. A pebbly beach perfect for swimming and relaxing in the sun and only really reachable by boat – so usually deserted.

St. George beach
A pebbly beach, not far from Symi port. The boat usually stays out slightly so you can dive into the clear waters and swim.
You can find the Diagoras moored up in Yialos, in the north west corner of the harbour where the taxi boats are also found.
