The Symi Gallery, Yialos
On our out and about trip yesterday we called into the Symi Gallery, Yialos to see the current exhibition by Paul Sanderson…

If only we had a bigger house; there are plenty of pieces here I’d like to own.

And I noticed that there is to be an art workshop on Sunday 20th September at 17.00. This will be held at the gallery which is beneath the Symi Visitor building, at the bottom of the slope. At the workshop you can ‘work with professional artists to create images that investigate the colours and composition to be found in Symi Harbour. All materials provided and wine included. €15.00.’
So there’s something creative to do if you are on Symi and want a change from beaches and walks. I believe these workshops are held regularly so keep an eye out for more when you are on the island.
The rest of the day went more or less according to plan with lunch with friends up at the windmills. And we had one of those mornings where all the jobs got done with no waiting of fuss. A visit to the town hall, then to the post office where I picked up a copy of the family history book for checking – thanks Millie for noticing the mistake on page one! Several people have viewed that page and not noticed it before and it is so obvious, doh! Neil collected his birthday presents from his children, a necklace and a book of humorous quotations which I shall no doubt be borrowing from in due course. I picked up my OS map of part of Devon too, ready for October. We even got a seat on the one o’clock bus, so all was right with the world. As it tends to be here on Symi.
