I took some snaps of the art that is on display (only for a couple more days) at the Symi Dream gallery, which I’ve put up here. There’s also a photo taken from the window upstairs at the gallery, and if you are wondering what the baskets are… these were at the Olive Tree, it’s all part of the PTA arrangements for fundraising and Christmas; raffles, sales, buy to give as gifts etc.

We’re going to the Olive Tree this evening for the cheesy night – cheese themed dishes and so on, and will try and remember to take the video camera. Haven’t actually been out of the house for a couple of days, apart from to sweep up and tidy up downstairs. I’ve been busy making a game for Christmas Day, to play with the older ‘children.’ It’s based around the old board game Haunted House which used a 3D board, including a chimney where you drop a steel ball – if you’re knocked over you’re back at the start; well you are in my game. And I’ve devised traps and falling furniture. It works, we tried it out last night – but it’s rather big so I hope it’s not windy or wet on Christmas day when I have to carry it through the lanes. It’s also made out of old boxes and card so if it gets wet… No doubt there will be photos after 25th.

And that’s about the highlight of my last couple of days at home, apart from watching James Whale’s Frankenstein last night, (‘It’s alive!’) on DVD, which came with an extra called ‘Boo’ – a very funny skit on the early 1930’s Universal movies, find it and watch it if you’re into that genre, it really is very funny.

Meanwhile back on Symi… sunny again today, sorry to hear about so much snow up north and I don’t mean to rub it in if you’re suffering from blizzards etc. I am sure our turn for bad weather will come, or rather come back, as we’ve had our share of storms. At least the boats are running back to normal now.

Right, must go and tidy up the mess and devastation caused by turning a few old boxes into a silly board game, oh boy!

  1. Kojak says:

Hope the game goes ok at the Olive Tree. I met James Whale in 1977 when I was helping out at the newly opened Civic Theatre in my home town. His first word to me was “Kojak!” which I thought was rather rude as we’d not been introduced. The “look” didn’t kill but he did apologise!
