Well, that was a great weekend off, and now it really feels like the end of winter and that the summer season is upon us proper. Though having said that, there is usually a lull after Easter and before May, depending on when Easter falls. So there could be another quiet couple of weeks ahead… maybe not. We shall see.

After a fab lunch with the family and friends I was back at home on Sunday when the firework display happened. It was a question of ‘shall I run for the camera and miss the show or not?’ And I didn’t, go for the camera that is. In fact I haven’t got any photos from Sunday or Monday, sorry about that. Not been out and about much at all, which is why I thought I’d have a day off from diary blogging yesterday, and why there are some recent photos, but not that recent, here today.

But thoughts are turning to the garden again where the vine has suddenly sprung into life and is already clambering into places it shouldn't be; the weeds are starting to come back, and yet the other plants need water as it already feels like such a long time ago that it rained. The flying ants are with us too. Last year they appeared in the front room here as if out of thin air, like something out of a horror film, as they must have nested in the pitched roof. I came in this morning to find hundreds of wings but no ants. All very strange. There were a few outside yesterday, so maybe they are nearby. Other bugs are starting to appear too, the garden spiders are making webs in the plants and across the path, over the washing line and so on, and there are a few mosquitoes about. With the weather warmer than of late it really does feel like summer is about to start…
