Quick update from Symi, and a Lenten challenge
Yesterday’s post was just a quick note about the gallery of photos taken at church a couple of days ago. To answer the questions posted in the comments: I’m not sure why there were so many soldiers at church for this service. Last year there were not as many and it was teenagers from the high school who came to parade the icon. This year the soldiers did it. And as for Harry’s communion… When we took him for his first one, after his baptism, he wasn’t happy about it at all, manly I think, because he was scared of the priest, whom he didn’t know, I noticed though that this week he had no problems at all and did rather well. Sam too was not reluctant to have a sip of wine either. Takes after his mother.

So, name day celebrations over, it’s time to look forward. (And have a few random photos here to brighten up the page.) Lent starts next week and I am thinking of setting myself a challenge. This won’t be to give something up for 40 days but rather to take something up for 40 days, blog it and share the experience it with you. I have a couple of ideas as to what that challenge would be and I’ll ponder on them over the weekend. I’ll decide which one it is to be and post details when I have. It won’t be to learn a new instrument or anything like that, I still have two woodwinds here to practice, and apparently I will be playing one on Sunday evening at the “Olive Tree Valentine Day evening romantic supper, contact Jenine to book a table now.”

Meanwhile, today’s challenge is to get my lazy butt down to the post office to see if my new game has arrived. If it has I can carry on being lazy by sitting on the sofa and playing the Xbox all weekend. Which of course I won’t do because we are playing live music on Sunday evening and there is a rehearsal booked in. And next week we have Clean Monday, ‘pancake day’ and a birthday, plus the continuation of the Symi golf tournament round two – Ian is still in the lead though I almost closed the gap last night. Neil is really out of form this year and is over 10 strokes behind, a bit of a first for him.
Enjoy the Ag Haralambos name day gallery (some arty pics from Neil in there) and watch out for details of my Lenten challenge over the weekend.
