Nimborio wildlife – guest blogs idea
A big thanks to our friends over in Nimborio for sending over today’s photos. Apart from the usual small lizards, the occasional snake, the sheep and goats, I don’t think I’ve seen anything ‘unusual’ wildlife-wise in Nimborio; I did see a cormorant when I was there at New Year, and there are sometimes birds of prey overhead, Kites? I imagine that Nimborio is a little wild today as there is a strong wind and the tide has been high due to the recent full moon. The photos here are of a kingfisher, a seal and the latest addition to Symi’s donkey family.
Guest blogs
Anne Zouroudi has sent me in a guest blog post, which will be posted tomorrow. You may know that Anne lived on Symi for several years and is the award nominated author of Bloomsbury’s Greek Detective Series. (See her site here.) She also very kindly wrote the forward to Carry On Up The Kali Strata (Our Symi Books page.) A few people have said that they might also be interested in writing a guest blog post, putting down their own thoughts about Symi and what it is like to be a visitor or resident here, so if anyone wants to contribute to a new page, and to put up a post here, simply email me and we’ll get the ball rolling. We can also add them to the collection of Symi Stories, on www.symistories.com which is a (very) slowly building place for such things. Of course we will link back to your site, if you have one.
Yesterday’s walk
And the short village walk yesterday was taken just before dusk when the few clouds in the sky were turning a dusty pink, the hills were bathed in that special late afternoon light and the village itself was very quiet. And I forgot the camera.
Not sure if there will be a walk today, Neil’s still ‘off’ with the flu, he and the Alarm Cat are fighting for the duvet in front of the fire in the other room.

Could the bird of prey have been an Eleonora’s Falcon (Varvaki)? How large was it? I remember seeing one most days when I was staying at the Fiona a couple of years ago.
Hard to say the size, it was high up. Next time I see one I will try and get some more details. There are kestrels (I think) over the Kali Strata on occassions. J
