Away from Symi
Just to keep you up to date… I’m going to be away from my post for a week so you won’t hear from me until after 21st May. Meanwhile I have asked sub-ed Jenine if she can post anything of interest that might come up while I’m not here, so keep a look out for Harry news and possibly even some washing line updates.
Sunday was a great day that ended with a meal at Georgio’s Taverna – thanks to Lefteris for lifting Neil up that big step – as usual there were loads of things on the menu, from stuffed onions to fresh fish. Monday brought a last minute dash to the accountant as I prepare for my week away and today is already booked up with those 101 other things that need to be done. We’re both going to Rhodes tomorrow (booked the hydro tickets days ago as I reckon it’s going to be full up, the Symi 2 isn’t taking foot passengers at the moment, only vehicles and anyway it leaves at 6 in the morning – the Spanos boat (Dodecanese pride etc.) leaves too late in the day for us…) so that Neil can see his doctor at the hospital before starting physiotherapy on Friday. He’s going to have a week of looking after himself at last, which should be easy enough though there are still some things he can’t do – taking the rubbish down, shopping (he’ll order it from Noufris on his way past though and have it delivered), and stuff like that. But the good thing about living up here in the village is that there are always friends and neighbours nearby to help out if needed – that goes for the harbour too I am sure.
So, a very quick dash down (and up) the Kali Strata yesterday:

Painting the steps has started at the top and working down… not got to this part as yet.
Village photo walks
Took a walk with Jenine on Sunday morning as this year she will be taking walks around the village as I used to do and as John did before me. It’s something that’s been missing for a year but it’s back by popular demand. Neil will have the details at the shop if you’re coming to Symi; it’s a two to three hour stroll around the village for photos, views, a bit of history and some anecdotes ending up at the museum then back to the main street in the village. Watch this space for more news.

Nearly got this cheeky chappie stealing peanuts from the tray but he clocked me and made a run for it.
So there you have it. More and more old friends are back for their holidays, things are hotting up and it won’t be long before we have our summer guests coming to stay. In the meantime, I’ll check in as soon as I get back next week.

Hope all goes well with Hopalong’s physio.
